Representation of genre

       I’ve been doing more and more of research and when I tell you this is so much work, but I know at the end it will pay off. 

     Let’s start with what you all came for which is how my genre represents/portrayed stereotypes and gender. In horror films you would see what will be know as a “villain” or “bad guy” which are usually played as a demon spiritual thing or a serial killers.

      Then you have your “victim” who usually bring the situation upon themselves. And they will be represented as mostly a group of white teenagers or a hard headed adult who doesn’t want to face the unreal. You will also notice it may be a young child and a distressed mom. 

     Gender is represented in horror movies in different ways. Women are usually considered as the victims and the male will be the the villain or hero. Another way it is represented is women being the victims and the hero, but it depends on the situation.
